Adopt-a-Pet: Zeke and Sophie

Zeke is a two-year-old Shepherd mix looking for a family to call his own. His caretakers said he is super sweet and loves going for long walks with humans and other dogs. He gets along well with other dogs but doesn’t get along well with cats. Zeke is neutered and ready to be adopted. Since he is in foster care, you can visit this sweet boy at the weekly adoption events at Petco in Murrieta on Saturdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. His intake number is 485140. Sophie is a six-year-old cat in need of a “fur”ever home to call her own. Her caretakers said she likes ear rubs and to be cuddled. She is waiting patiently to meet her “fur”ever humans at the Petco in Lake Elsinore. Sophie is spayed and ready to be adopted. Her intake number is 485318. Reference picture: Sophie.

All dog and cat adoption fees include a microchip, basic shelter vaccines (excluding rabies) and a free veterinarian check-up. All cats/kittens, pit bulls and Chihuahua adoptions are just $5 (spay/neuter fees, if applicable, are additional).

For adoption or fostering, contact Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) at 951-674-0618. The shelter is located at 33751 Mission Trail in Wildomar. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shelter offers animals for adoption as well as providing animal control and spay/neuter services.

Low cost vaccinations and $20 microchipping are available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at AFV’s Low Cost Spay/ Neuter Clinic at 29001 Bastron Ave., Lake Elsinore. Walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, call 951-674-7729 (SPAY) or 951-374-3491.
