Pickleball Club hosts End of Summer Tournament

The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club held its End of Summer Tournament the weekend of Sept. 13 and 14. The two-day event featured club members competing in six categories.

Friday evening featured the Women’s Intermediate, Men’s Intermediate, Women’s Advanced and Men’s Advanced tournaments. Members self-rated themselves and signed up for these various skill level events according to their level of play. Each event was a round-robin style where players had a different partner each match.

In the Women’s Intermediate, Mary Visgar came in first (undefeated), Lisa Patton came in second and Susie Cook placed third.

In the Men’s Intermediate, Steve Libring took first (undefeated), Mike Kidd came in second and Jon Keigwin placed third.

In the nightcap, the advanced players demonstrated their skills and provided many exciting rallies for those watching.

In the Women’s Advanced, Dena Kuhns came in first and Diane Libring and Marilyn Stovall tied for second.

In the Men’s Advanced, Hank Robles came in first (undefeated), Bruce Yarbrough took second and Les Kuhns earned third.

The first place winners received a gift card that they could use at the lodge or country club. The club hosted a barbecue both nights afterward.

The tournament continued on Saturday night with the opening round featuring the Novice players. These newcomers played with each person as a partner. Coming out on top in first is Lesley McKinnon. Don Torres finished second and Krista Smith took third.
