The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Sports Stop will host the 9th annual Canyon Lake Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 4 to 9 p.m. in the upper parking lot of the Towne Center.

This family-friendly event features live music by the American Bavarian Brass Band, traditional food, beer and wine, dancing, contests, vendors, a kids zone with bounce house, face painting and a special appearance from Lake Elsinore Storm’s mascot Thunder.

Contests include Beer Drinking (non-alcoholic), Stein Holding, Hot Dog Eating and Jalapeno Eating. Contests are limited to the first 12 people who sign up. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Beer and wine tickets cost $5 each. A photo ID and wristband will be required for alcohol purchases. Commemorative mugs will be available for purchase for $5. Outside alcohol and coolers are not allowed.

Bavarian costumes (lederhosen and dirndls) are encouraged. All ages are invited to participate in the chicken dance and Grand March.

Vendor spaces are filled and no longer available. Organizers are seeking volunteers to help set up between the house of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Community service hours are available for high school students. Volunteers should be able to lift 50 pounds.
