Woman’s Club hosts Mermaid Festival pre-party

In preparation for the Woman’s Club community-wide annual Mermaid Festival on Sept. 21, the club held a Mermaid Festival pre-party on Sept. 6 at the home of Daryl and Mickey France.

Guests who paid a $10 entry fee received a drink ticket, appetizers and an entry into the Mermaid Festival grand prize drawing for a chance to win a Lily Pad, kayak and cash prizes. All proceeds from the pre-party go toward the club’s philanthropic projects.

Founded in 1972,  the Woman’s Club is a non-profit, non-partisan, philanthropic organization. Since 1995, the Woman’s Club has awarded more than $300,000 to local organizations and to Canyon Lake students in the form of scholarships.

The 5th annual Mermaid Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 to 3 p.m. at Indian Beach. The event features the ever-popular Cardboard Boat Challenge, pirate, mermaid and knobby knees contests, food, vendors, dance party, opportunity drawings, grand prize drawings, Mermaid Grotto, Pirate Cove and a pirate ship battle on the lake courtesy of the Canyon Lake Yacht Club.
