Santa Rosa Academy, 27587 La Piedra Road, Menifee, is hosting Menifee’s annual Freedom Run on Saturday, Sept. 14, and invites the Canyon Lake community to attend. The event features races, a car show, vendors, food, drawings and activities for kids.
The 5K Race starts at 8 a.m. The 3K Race starts at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $25 per person and includes a T-shirt and swag bag while supplies last. The top three winners will be announced between 11 and 11:30 a.m.
A vendor fair and car show will follow the races at 9 a.m. There will more than 40 vehicles on display at the Car Show. More than 15 Canyon Lakers are participating in the show. Voting starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m. The winners will be announced at approximately 12:15 p.m. Registration is $25 per car. Registration ends Sept. 9.
This year’s Freedom Run theme is centered around honoring Patriots Day. Many of the vendors are wounded and disabled veterans, first responders and active-duty military personnel. There will be several non-profit vendors who will be giving their proceeds to programs that assist veterans and active-duty military personnel.
A dedication wall will be featured inside the Freedom Village Vendor Fair where visitors can dedicate a portion of the wall to veterans and first responders.
There will be a passport drawing with prizes valued at more than $800. Passports cost $5 each. To be eligible for the drawing, participants must collect stamps at 15 various booths. Drawings will be held every 30 minutes.
This event also features games, a photo booth, rock painting, food vendors and emergency service vehicles.
