Tickets on sale for Doobie Bros. tribute concert

Fans of the Doobie Brothers will be treated to a re-creation of the 70s rock group on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge.

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Fine Arts Guild, “Listen to the Music” showcases iconic rock classics such as “China Grove,” “Long Train Running” and “Black Water.”

General Admission tickets cost $25 and VIP tickets cost $45. Tickets are on sale at canyonlakeguild.org. General Admission tickets can be purchased at the POA office.

Using the exact same instruments, costumes and looks as the famous band, the audience will be “Taking it to the Streets” and “Rocking Down the Highway” for approximately two hours. The audience will feel as if they have gone back in time to the days of that rugged and authentic rock and roll that made the Doobies initially popular in biker bars.

However, the appeal of the Doobies three-part harmonies, as well as their acoustic flavors, established them as musical craftsmen far beyond an image of leather and cycles. Singer Michael McDonald’s soulful vocals led to such blockbusters as “What a Fool Believes,” “Minute by Minute” and “You Belong to Me.”

The Doobie Brothers have had 16 Top 40 hits and their “Best of the Doobies” has sold more than 12 million copies, so almost every song in the upcoming Canyon Lake performance will be a familiar sing-along, toe-tapper and boogie-jam.

“Listen the Music” will be playing Doobies blues, R&B, country, bluegrass and rock and roll, so there should be something for everybody.
