New CLMS cheer team prepares for school year

Natasha Warner, Eliana Ruyle, McKenzie Cassara and Delaney Shaw practice stunts.

The new Canyon Lake Middle School competition cheer team has been working hard this summer preparing for the 2019/2020 school year. The team had a wonderful camp experience with The Spirit Consultants (TSC) and learned many new skills.

“We learned two new routines with stunts and a pyramid,” said coach Tammy Howard. “We also did some tumbling, jump workshops, motion workshops, a lot of stunting and team bonding.”

Each day, TSC awarded three girls with a spirit stick for being outstanding. The spirit stick recipients are Brynn Baine, Ryleigh Cooley, Emma Dornay, Ryann Boshard, Natasha Warner and Hayley Huerta.

Camp ended with a showcase for family and friends where the team performed all of their camp material.

The team performed at Back to School Night on Thursday and will be performing at CLMS Storm Night on Aug. 22.

The majority of the team is made up of Canyon Lake residents. They include Allyson Villarreal, Amara Noon, Ava Jaffe, Bailey Graham, Brynn Baine, Callie Reeves, Carisa Ronchetti, Eliana Ruyle, Emma Cole, Hailey Berry, Kaitlyn Usary, captain Kolena Apana, McKenzie Cassara, Natasha Warner, Riley Bergherm, Ryann Boshard, Ryleigh Cooley, Sawyer Lanouette, Shae Inchcliff, Stefani Uribe, captain Summer Scott and Taylor Tello.
