Canyon Laker Scott Enochs and his wife Gaye Mortimer recently returned from an amazing two-week adventure in Portugal. The couple enjoyed sight-seeing, hiking, wine tasting, visiting beaches and touring a river, churches and castles.

The couple started their trip with a two-night stay in the walled town of Obidos, a small town situated along a limestone ridge and completely encircled by ancient town walls. Within Obidos are traditionally painted houses, a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets and a medieval castle, which has guarded the region for more than 800 years.

In Aveiro, a city on the west coast of Portugal set along a lagoon called Ria de Aveiro, Scott and Gaye witnessed a baptism in an old church.

In Costa Nova, a small fishing village and well-known holiday spot since the 19th century for Portuguese families, the couple visited the village’s famous colorful painted striped house.

Their adventures also included a three-day stay in Lisbon, Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city, a winery tour and wine tasting in Porto, a city famous for port wine, and a seven-day stay in a coastal resort in Esposende in Portugal’s Norte Region. Scott said they made some new friends along the way and would like to visit Portugal again.
