Coffee and Cars

Enjoy a morning of coffee at cars on July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15 and Oct. 20 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the J & M Speed Center in the historic Riverside Auto Center at 3230 W. Motor Circle Dr., Riverside.

Family Campout

Enjoy a fun family campout at Silver Star Park July 20 through July 21. The park is located at Normandy Road and Audie Murphy Ranch Road. Check in is at 3 p.m. on Saturday, check out is at 12 p.m. on Sunday. This event includes a scavenger hunt, family competitions, a moonlight movie, S’mores, picnic games and breakfast. Registration is $50 for a family of four or $13 for individuals. To register, call 951-723-3880.

Free Movies in the Park

Karate Kid will play on July 24 at 8 p.m. at Summerlake Park, 900 Broadway St., Lake Elsinore. See Planes: Fire & Rescue on Aug. 9 at Temeku Hills Park in Temecula. Activities begin at 6 p.m., movie starts at dusk.

Free Summer Concert

Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy a free summer concert on July 25 featuring 80z Allstars at the Temecula Amphitheater, 30875 Rancho Vista Rd. Gates open at 5 p.m., concert starts at 7 p.m.

Carp Quest

The City of Lake Elsinore is hosting Carp Quest 2019 on July 27 in an effort to remove carp from the lake. Entry is free. Top prizes for the heaviest amount of carp. Fish anywhere on the lake from 7 to 11:15 a.m. (last weigh-in). A California fishing license is required.

Moonlight Market

Menifee’s Moonlight Market will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, at Central Park, 30268 Civic Plaza Dr. Moonlight Market features vendor booths at 5 p.m., live music and entertainment at 6:30 p.m. and a movie at 8 p.m.

Community Night

The City of Lake Elsinore is teaming up with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments and community groups to provide a safe, fun night out for families. This free event features interactions with local police and firefighters, display vehicles, activities and crafts, food vendors and raffle prizes. For more information, call 951-674-3124, ext. 292.

Caregivers Connection

Caregivers Connection is an outreach for those caring for a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other diseases of the aging. JoAnn Wickerath and Bev Haney lead a group with informational talks, videos and fellowship. This is a great opportunity to speak with other caregivers and share information, tips and experiences. Meetings are typically held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church in Building C. Attendees are asked to refrain from using perfume at the meetings as there are those who are allergic to the chemicals in perfume. The next meeting will be held on July 29 at 10:30 It will be a potluck and caregivers are invited to bring the loved ones they are caring for.

Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular

Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular will be held on Oct. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. on Main Street in Lake Elsinore. This free family event features trunk or treating, carnival games and a costume contest. Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants discover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them. Celebrate Recovery meets every Sunday at 6 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They offer Celebrate Recovery (recovery for adults 18 and older); The Landing (recovery for teens); Celebration Place (recovery for kids); and free childcare. A potluck is held on the first Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Marianne at 951-244-1877, ext. 209.

Teen Fitness

Fitness 19 is trying to do its part to make the community healthier and combat teen obesity, one student at a time. Through Sept. 1, students ages 12 through 18 can workout for free at Fitness 19 in Menifee.

Lioness Bingo Fundraiser

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Lioness Club, bingo at the Canyon Lake Senior Center is held monthly on first and third Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to state law, players must be 18 or older to play. Admission is $10 per six-sheet set; special games are available for $1 each. Those wishing to attend from outside the community should call Nancy Coughlin at 951-805-0543 or Joanna Spiller at 951-244-1553 for gate entrance.

Chronic Illness Support

The Chronic Illness Support Group meets on the first Monday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. All ages are welcome to attend. The group provides the opportunity to share and receive support from others who have chronic conditions, whether from illness or physical issues. Needlework Group

Canyon Lakers are invited to bring their knitting and crocheting supplies and projects to the senior center on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, contact Betty Cannavino at 951-244-4126.

Breast Cancer Support

Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group in Canyon Lake led by Janelle Basham and Kimberly Slingerland. The pair mentor, educate and support newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients during their journey. For more information, visit clbosombuddies.com.

Menifee Historical Museum

The Menifee Valley Historial Museum contains displays about Canyon Lake history, provided by Canyon Lake pioneers, Don and Elinor Martin, who sometimes serve as docents. Farmers Market

The Canyon Lake Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot.

Bereavement Support

A 13-week bereavement program starts on Aug. 19. Sessions are held on Mondays in Building A at Canyon Lake Community Church. Choose between two session times, 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Grief Share provides helpful information on grief-related topics. By attending you’ll discover how helpful it is to be around people who are looking for encouragement, direction and support.  Many from the fellowship and community have attended in the past and have been blessed by the information shared through the videos and workbooks. The number one question most people have is, “Will I have to talk during the group?” “The answer is, No. The decision is yours to share.”

Genealogy Research

The Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society (LEGS) business and program meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of each month, except July and August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lakeland Village Community Center, 16275 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore. Meetings are free and open to the public.

MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. MOPS seeks to support mothers during the early years of their children’s lives. By connecting with other moms and mentor moms, craft projects and guest speakers, women are encouraged in their physical, emotional and spiritual journeys. Childcare is provided.

The mothers fellowship over hot coffee and a warm breakfast, then enjoy a speaker or craft. Those desiring “coffee talk” are invited to contact Karla Holenbeck at 951-317-6803.

Sewing, Quilting Group

Residents are invited to the senior center for sewing and quilting on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a project and sewing machine, or just visit and check it out. For more information, contact Terri Ireland at 951-246-2571.

Women’s Circles

Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle provides an opportunity for small group fellowship. Faith Circle meets the third Monday at 7 p.m.; Julia Circle meets the second Monday at 10:30 a.m.; Priscilla Circle meets the first Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.; Sonshine Circle meets the third Monday at 9:30 a.m.; Sunset Circle meets the second Sunday at 5:30 p.m.; Love Circle meets the second Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. For more information about the Women’s Circles, contact Circle Coordinator Phyllis Duncan at 951-674-4436.

Steering Wheel Covers

The Canyon Lake Lioness Club offers custom-made steering wheel covers made of many different materials and patterns that keep steering wheels from becoming too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
