The Tuesday Work Group (TWG) held its annual Appreciation Dinner on June 27 at the lodge. The Frank Sinatra theme, “It Was a Very Good Year,” was embraced by all. Ken Rice, entertained the group with Sinatra music during dinner and dancing afterward.

TWG Chairman Don Norris served as the emcee and congratulated the past and present members and officers on volunteering more than 3,100 injury-free hours this year.

The coveted Golden Shovel award, which is determined by vote of the membership, was presented to Jerry Tennery. The award recognizes five or more years of good service, regular participation on the Tuesday morning teams and being a member in good standing in the community.

“It is truly a high honor to be in the company of those many fine awardees of prior years,” said Jerry.

Hub Watson received his service pin for 30 years and Joe Washle for 15 years.

TWG consists of more than 40 volunteers dedicated to enhancing the community by taking on projects on the golf course and around the community. They sand divots, trim trees and bushes, make concrete paths and maintain monuments. Most recently, the group built a retaining wall on hole 6.

TWG formed in 1973. The group averages more than 300 volunteer hours per month. TWG meets every Tuesday during the months of October through June at 8 a.m. in the golf maintenance yard at the country club.

Committee board meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. The group is always looking for a few good men to join them. For more information about TWG, contact Don Norris at 714-356-4930.
