Boat Service Seal Changes

Canyon Lake residents who exit the community with their boat for gas, service, etc. should request a service seal (white tag) from Community Patrol. Upon re-entry, a service seal indicates to staff that the boat has not been in another body of water and does not need to be inspected for quagga mussel. To make this process easier, Community Patrol gate guards will now provide the white tags at both the east and north gates. Residents exiting with their boat may stop and park in the 10-minute parking area directly behind the east and north gate guard buildings.

Members who have anchored their boat within a 5 mph zone away from boat traffic lanes may swim/float within the immediate area surrounding their boat. Some of the best places to do this are the East Bay, Catfish Cove and Big Bass Cove.

Traffic School

The POA offers Traffic School as another method to remove a citation from a member’s account. A member is eligible to attend traffic school for a moving violation once every 36 months, as long as the Prime Member is in good standing with the POA and the citation is not related to alcohol/drug use, possession of drugs nor did the citation cause injury or property damage. Lake and Marina citations are also excluded from Traffic School eligibility. Traffic School is held on the last Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the POA office. The fee is $25 and due at the time of registration. Upon completion, the citation will be removed from the Prime Member’s account. Paid citations do not qualify for Traffic School. RFIDs for family

In an effort to cut down on the congestion at the gates and the wait times for family members the POA Board of Directors approved RFID transponders for non-resident family members of homeowners. A homeowner may authorize up to three vehicle RFID transponders to non-resident family members for community access. The homeowner and family member must complete the registration form, provide valid vehicle registration and pay a one-time $20 fee per vehicle. Valid vehicle registration must be provided to the POA on an annual basis.

The transponder will remain active until revoked in writing by the homeowner and the parking decal returned. Upon the sale of the property or termination of the transponder, the parking decal must be returned or an outstanding decal fee will apply. This new policy will go in effect after the 30-day reading for the proposed $20 fee is approved.

Lock Vehicles

Residents are reminded to double-check their vehicle doors and windows each evening and be sure alarm systems are activated. Records show most thefts from vehicles in Canyon Lake occur because doors were left unlocked or windows left open. Residents should not leave items of value in front yards or driveways. Open cars and valuables left outside can lead to “crimes of opportunity” that can be easily prevented. If a crime is in progress, call 911 before calling Community Patrol at 951-244-6841, ext. 410.
