Letter: Tuesday Work Group

Editor, The Friday Flyer

On June 27, I was honored by the Tuesday Work Group with the annual Golden Shovel award. Service for the season just completed in the vision and the spirit of the group is the basis of the award. It is truly a high honor to be in the company of those many fine awardees of prior years.

The motto of the TWG is to work for the benefit of our community. Straightforward and honest. This organization, an official member of the Canyon Lake POA since 1973 and a major contributor in the years before, provides material and important labor each and every year, for the benefit of our entire community.

The award is given to an individual, but in fact, the work is only made real through the efforts of all our members working together.

These gentlemen roll out of bed every Tuesday of the season, dedicating mind and muscle to make a positive impact that day, that month, that season, year in year out.

The Golden Shovel then is really recognition of the entire group. For example, the men of the TWG crew I am proud to be part of are Eric, Bob, Gary, Chris, Richard, Shannon and from time to time many others. Individually, each one is top of the line. They see the job and then do the job, with excellence.

The TWG is not a “me thing,” it is a “we thing.” It has certainly provided for many a welcoming important place to contribute on behalf of Canyon Lake. It can be life changing in the most positive ways and a place always available for those interested in becoming part of a great experience. Including you!
