Chair Volleyball Division One wins tournament

Sixteen senior chair volleyball teams met in Sun City for a semi-annual Senior Chair Volleyball Tournament. Three Canyon Lake teams, one in each division, participated in the tournament. With eight wins and one loss, Canyon Lake’s Division One team scored the best results. Canyon Lake teams will be participating in the Riverside Senior Chair Volleyball Tournament in February in Sun City.

Debbie Harper, founder of several Riverside senior chair volleyball clubs and author of “Chair Volleyball — Play it, Coach it, Love it,” was presented with a gift basket in appreciation for the leadership and support she has provided the teams for more than a decade. Debbie is moving from Canyon Lake to Northern California at the end of the month.

The Canyon Lake Senior Chair Volleyball Club was founded in 2008 and sanctioned by the POA in 2009. The club is for seniors 50 years of age and older. The club promotes fitness fun and the spirit of competition through the organized playing of chair volleyball. The game is played using a beach ball and a 5 ft. net while players are seated. Members meet weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Competitive play starts at 8 a.m.; regular play starts at 9:30 a.m. For more information, contact President Tom Green at 951-764-7688.
