Travel and explore with the CL Travel Club

The Travel Club invites adult members of the community to join in on its next travel adventures near and far. On Aug. 25, the club will return to John Wayne’s Wild Goose yacht in Newport Beach for a two-hour cruise and champagne brunch.

Once the yacht of acting legend John Wayne, this stunning vessel boasts an impressive history. Members will experience an exclusive tour that includes an informative narration that will guide them throughout the yacht, highlighting interesting facts and stories.

The cost is $125 for members, $130 for non-members. For reservations, call 951-757-6760. The bus departs at 9:30 a.m. from the lodge and returns at 3:30 p.m.

The club is hosting its annual dinner/dance on Sept. 27 at Holiday Harbor Park. This year’s theme is “Beach Blanket Bingo.” The event is still in the planning stages; details will be posted on the club’s website at a later date.

Members will travel to New Orleans Oct. 6 through Oct. 10 where they will experience a spirited jazz revue at a jazz club in the French Quarter, soak in the ambiance of the old south with a drive along St. Charles Avenue, journey through Louisiana’s swamp country on a narrated cruise, indulge in a taste of New Orleans food, learn to cook New Orleans-style at the New Orleans School of Cooking and join a local guide for a cocktail tour in the French Quarter.

The cost is $1,400 for double occupancy, $1,900 for single. Airfare is included.

The bus will take members from Canyon Lake to LAX where they will board a non-stop Southwest Airlines flight to New Orleans. For more information about this trip, call 951-757-6760.

The club will wrap up the year Dec. 22, 2019, through Jan. 7, 2020, with a visit to Dublin, Edinburgh and London, plus a three-night stay in a Scottish castle where members will ring in the New Year. This trip is for members only. There is currently a waitlist.
