New wave band The Motels will be making their debut in Canyon Lake tomorrow evening, June 22, in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. General Admission tickets are sold out. VIP tickets cost $54 and can be purchased at the POA office or online at canyonlakepoa.com.

The Motels first defined MTV with Top Ten hits “Only the Lonely” and “Suddenly Last Summer.” The band released five albums on Capitol Records between 1979 and 1985, two of which earned gold record status. Their newest record, “The Last Few Beautiful Days,” was released in the spring of 2018.

Concertgoers are invited to meet the members of the band at a Meet and Greet after the show.

Kenny Marquez will be opening the show. Kenny has performed at more than 500 venues in Southern California and boasts a vast musical career, including lead guitarist of the 80s/90s rock band Renegade, which is widely recognized as being the first Hispanic or “Chicano rock” band to gain acceptance in the United States.

The Motels concert is the third of four concerts in the POA’s 2019 Concert at the Lodge series. The series will wrap up on Nov. 2 with a performance by country music singer and songwriter Billy Dean. Dean’s studio albums have accounted for more than 20 hit singles on the Billboard country charts, including 11 Top Ten hits. Tickets for the Billy Dean concert cost $24 for General Admission and $49 for VIP. Tickets can be purchased at canyonlakepoa.com.
