Canyon Lake couple enjoys road trip to Texas

Canyon Lakers Linda and Hans Weg drove to South Padre Island, Texas, for a seven-day stay at the Royale Beach and Tennis Club. The resort rests on the beach of South Padre Island and boasts ocean views, three pools and tennis courts.

The couple enjoyed relaxing at the beach and pool, dining at local restaurants and a movie. They also toured the longest fishing pier in Texas in the nearby town of Port Isabel.

Linda and Hans planned to participate in many of the actives the island offered but decided against it because the humidity was unbearable. “South Padre Island is very beautiful with great beaches and fishing,” Hans said. “It is a great place to visit but we would not want to live there, it’s just too humid.”

The couple spent a night in El Paso, Texas, on their way to South Padre Island. “Texas was great with the speed limit being mostly 80 mph,” Hans said. “There is so much open country that you can make great driving time, but I think our long cross-country road trips are over. Next time we will fly.”

On their 1,615 mile drive back to Canyon Lake, Linda and Hans spent a night in Las Cruzes, New Mexico, toured “The Thing” in Texas Canyon, Arizona, and gambled at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino in Chandler, Arizona.
