Poppa’s Barn Celebration

Poppa’s Barn, 29160 Goetz Rd., Menifee, invites the community to its celebration of its launch on Wayfair.com and its introduction of driftwood tomorrow, June 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Throughout the day, Poppa will be showing off tips and tricks on installing a reclaimed wood wall and creating tables and shelves.

Fathers Day Brunch

The Elks Ladies of Lake Elsinore/Wildomar Elks Lodge, 33700 Mission Trail, Wildomar is hosting a Father’s Day Champagne Brunch on Sunday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 pm. The price is $10. The brunch is open to the public. For information, contact Barbara Concholo at 951-246-0013.

Teen Summer Challenge

Fitness 19 is trying to do its part to make the community healthier and combat teen obesity, one student at a time. Through Sept. 1, students ages 12 through 18 can workout at Fitness 19 in Menifee for free.

Library Activities

It’s showtime at the Vick Knight Lakeside Library, 32593 Riverside Dr., Lake Elsinore. On Monday, June 17, Max’s Invention Labs will feature a hands-on workshop for kids presented by the Western Science Center.

On June 24, Drum Mania features the nonstop energy of Chazz the Drummer. Hidden Valley Nature Center will present Nifty Nature on July 1. The Make-a-Puppet Workshop will be held on July 8 and an Ice Cream Social will be held July 15. For more information, contact the library at 951-678-7083.

Free Movies in Park

Summerlake Park, 900 Broadway St., Lake Elsinore, will feature free movies on June 26 (Lilo and Stitch), July 10 (Ralph Breaks the Internet) and July 24 (The Karate Kid). Movies start at 8 p.m. For more information, call 951-674-3124.

Vail Headquarters

Sunday Funday events held at Vail Headquarters, 32115 Temecula Parkway, Temecula, offer fun for the whole family. Activities include arts and crafts, train rides, picnic games, historical displays and more.

Sunday Funday is held every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other rotating entertainment includes live blacksmithing demonstrations, stagecoach rides, Momtrepreneurs vendor market (first Sunday of the month), petting zoo, live music and dance performances.

Lavender Festival

Each summer, 123 Farm at Highland Springs Ranch & Inn celebrates the beginning of lavender harvest season by hosting the annual Lavender Festival. This year’s festival runs through June 30. Hours are Thursday and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For ticket information, visit 123farm.com.

The festival offers strolls through the lavender fields, guided tours in horse-drawn hay wagons, live music and lavender-inspired dishes.

The organic herbs grown at 123 Farm are featured prominently throughout the family-friendly festival through various refreshing lavender-inspired favorites, such as lavender lemonade and lavender ice cream. The organic marketplace showcases specialty items made with lavender.

Festival

The We Love America Festival will be held on Saturday, July 6, from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Outlets at Lake Elsinore at 17600 Collier Ave. The festival is a salute to active military, veterans and first responders.

The event features live music, art displays, entertainment, beer garden, food trucks, more than 90 vendors and a fun zone for kids featuring a waterslide, bounce house, crafts and carnival games.

Lioness Bingo Fundraiser

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Lioness Club, bingo is held at the Canyon Lake Senior Center on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to state law, players must be 18 or older to play. Admission is $10 per six-sheet set; special games are available for $1 each. Those wishing to attend from outside the community should call Nancy Coughlin at 951-805-0543 or Joanna Spiller at 951-244-1553 for gate entrance.

Farmers Market

The Canyon Lake Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot.

Caregivers Connection

Caregivers Connection is an outreach for those caring for a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other diseases of the aging. JoAnn Wickerath and Bev Haney lead a group with informational talks, videos and fellowship. This is a great opportunity to speak with other caregivers and share information, tips and experiences.

Meetings are typically held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church in Building C. Attendees are asked to refrain from using perfume at the meetings as there are those who are allergic to the chemicals in perfume.

Chronic Illness Support

The Chronic Illness Support Group meets on the first Monday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. The next meeting is this Monday, June 3.

All ages are welcome to attend. The group provides the opportunity to share and receive support from others who have chronic conditions, whether from illness or physical issues. For more information, contact Steven Prince at 949-293-2919.

New Church App

The Canyon Lake Community Church has a new app that enables users to stay in the loop on the important news through push notifications, quickly access the event calendar to find out about upcoming events, listen to messages and discover ways to get involved, serve and get connected to groups. Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants discover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them. Celebrate Recovery meets every Sunday at 6 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They offer Celebrate Recovery (recovery for adults 18 and older); The Landing (recovery for teens); Celebration Place (recovery for kids); and free childcare. A potluck is held on the first Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Marianne at 951-244-1877, ext. 209.

Needlework Group

Canyon Lakers are invited to bring their knitting and crocheting supplies and projects to the senior center on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, contact Betty Cannavino at 951-244-4126.

Bereavement Support

A 13-week session of Grief Share, a bereavement support group, begins Aug. 19. Sessions will be held on Mondays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Building A at Canyon Lake Community Church. Expressive Art Class

Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area, hosts a free Expressive Art Class every other Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The class uses art as a form of therapy and self-exploration. Sessions help to practice creativity while opening the door to calming strategies and awareness techniques. Participants gain a better insight of themselves through sharing feelings and exploring a host of topics with group dialogue and discussion. It’s part art, part relaxing, part “therapy,” part discussion and a positive diversion for anyone. No reservations, fees, or art experience required. For dates and times, visit michellesplace.org.

Genealogy Research

The Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society (LEGS) business and program meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of each month, except July and August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lakeland Village Community Center, 16275 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore. Meetings are free and open to the public.

On Apr. 11, speaker Kristi Sexton will be speaking on the topic of “Digging in FindaGrave.” Genealogy has been a major part of Kristi’s life for nearly three decades. She has been serving as president of the Orange County California Genealogical Society and is an Adjunct Professor for Brigham Young University in the Family History department.

MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. MOPS seeks to support mothers during the early years of their children’s lives. By connecting with other moms and mentor moms, craft projects and guest speakers, women are encouraged in their physical, emotional and spiritual journeys. Childcare is provided.

The mothers fellowship over hot coffee and a warm breakfast, then enjoy a speaker or craft. Those desiring “coffee talk” are invited to contact Karla Holenbeck at 951-317-6803.

Sewing, Quilting Group

Breast Cancer Resources

Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group in Canyon Lake led by Janelle Basham and Kimberly Slingerland. The pair mentor, educate and support newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients during their journey. For more information, visit clbosombuddies.com.

Michelle’s Place, 27645 Jefferson Ave., Ste. 117, Temecula, is a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding areas. The center’s mission is to provide emotional and educational support to those touched with breast cancer and facilitate breast health care services. Women’s Circles

Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle provides an opportunity for small group fellowship. Menifee Historical Museum

The Menifee Valley Historial Museum contains displays about Canyon Lake history, provided by Canyon Lake pioneers, Don and Elinor Martin, who sometimes serve as docents. Steering Wheel Covers

The Canyon Lake Lioness Club offers custom-made steering wheel covers made of many different materials and patterns that keep steering wheels from becoming too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
