Few tickets remain for The Motels, Marquez concert

The Motels, an LA band who first defined MTV with Top Ten hits “Only the Lonely” and “Suddenly Last Summer,” will be making their debut in Canyon Lake on Saturday, June 22, in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. The concert is the third of four concerts in the POA’s “Concert at the Lodge” series.

General Admission tickets cost $29. VIP tickets cost $54. Tickets can be purchased at the POA office and online at canyonlakepoa.com.

The Motels released five albums on Capitol Records between 1979 and 1985, two of which earned gold record status. The band released their new record, “The Last Few Beautiful Days,” in the spring of 2018.

“I am excited to have booked The Motels as part of this year’s Concerts at the Lodge,” said concert promoter Doug Schultz. “Canyon Lake is going to have an excellent concert experience with a band that was all over MTV in their early days.”

Kenny Marquez will be opening the show. Kenny has performed at more than 500 venues in Southern California and boasts a vast musical career, including lead guitarist of the 80s/90s rock band Renegade, which is widely recognized as being the first Hispanic or “Chicano rock” band to gain acceptance in the United States.

The POA’s 2019 “Concerts at the Lodge” series will conclude on Nov. 2 with a performance by country music singer and songwriter Billy Dean. Dean’s studio albums have accounted for more than 20 hit singles on the Billboard country charts, including 11 Top Ten hits. Tickets for this concert are on sale now. General Admission tickets cost $24. VIP tickets cost $49.
