Afternoon golf cart accident sends one to hospital

A golf cart accident Friday afternoon at the golf course sent one person to the hospital and injured another.

Canyon Lake residents Chuck Hudson, 84, and Jim Magill, 93, were talking beside a golf cart when a cart driven by Canyon Lake Councilman Randy Bonner excelled forward, knocking both men to the ground.

A paramedic golfing nearby rushed to their aid. “He took charge and did everything that needed to be done until the ambulance arrived,” said Hudson’s wife Linda.

Hudson was taken by ambulance to Inland Valley Medical Center where he received 16 staples in his right calf.

Magill did not receive medical treatment, but was sore for days following the accident, he said.

I feel terrible about this accident,” said Councilman Bonner. “I don’t know what happened. I thought I was backing up, but the cart went forward.”

The three men are members of the After Lunch Bunch golf club. The accident occurred shortly after their golf game ended.
