Workshop to be held for therapy animal handlers

The husband and wife team of Tedd Rosenfeld and Shellie Yaseen will be hosting a one-day Therapy Animal Handler Workshop on Saturday, June 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall.

Registration is $60 and includes a Pet Partners Handler Guide, class materials, a live demonstration of a Team Evaluation, lunch, beverages and snacks. To register, visit petpartners.org.

The workshop is for individuals who are considering volunteering with their pet as a therapy animal team. Therapy animals and their handlers can be found helping people of all ages in a variety of settings, including hospitals, pediatric care units, schools and assisted living facilities.

The Pet Partners Therapy Animal Handler Workshop is designed to train the “human end” of the leash. This class is for handlers only, observers are not permitted in class.

Pet Partners is an international non-profit organization that registers animals and their owners to become a Therapy Team.

Evaluators Tedd and Shellie reside in Canyon Lake and have been members of Pet Partners for 18 years. Tedd is an international program educator-team evaluator and Shellie is a handler-instructor. They have traveled to national and international cities to evaluate handlers and dogs to become registered Pet Partners and certify new Team Evaluators to help grow the organization.
