The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club is the winner of the Fiesta Day Float Contest. The mermaid-themed float earned the club $250.

The float was decorated by Lyne Hall, Daryl France and Kathy Barbay. Among those riding on the float were Bronwyn Hall as Neptune and Woman’s Club members Alexis Prince, Lesley McKinnon and Aprile DeAnne as mermaids.

The judges were a group of dignitaries selected by a POA member. Golf carts were not eligible to participate in the contest.

Founded in 1972, the Woman’s Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that raises funds for local charities and scholarships for deserving Canyon Lake women and girls. In 2018, the Woman’s Club donated $21,000 to local charities and awarded $21,000 in scholarships.

The club meets monthly from September through June on the third Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. The club puts on several community events throughout the year, including the Fashion Show, Mermaid Festival, Witches Afternoon Tea and Holiday Home Tour.
