Volunteer with your pet as a therapy team

Have you ever considered volunteering with your pet as a therapy animal team? Therapy animals and their handlers can be found helping people of all ages in a variety of settings, including hospitals, pediatric care units, schools and assisted living facilities.

Pet Partners is hosting a one-day Therapy Animal Handler Workshop on Saturday, June 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Canyon Lake City Hall.

Registration is $60 and includes a Pet Partners Handler Guide, class materials, a live demonstration of a Team Evaluation, lunch, beverages and snacks. To register, visit petpartners.org. For questions or more information, contact Shellie Yaseen at shellie.yaseen@gmail.com.

The Pet Partners Therapy Animal Handler Workshop is designed to train the “human end” of the leash. This class is for handlers only, observers are not permitted in class.

Pet Partners is an international non-profit organization that registers animals and their owners to become a Therapy Team. The evaluations are presided over by the husband and wife team of Tedd Rosenfeld and Shellie Yaseen. The couple, who reside in Canyon Lake, have been members of Pet Partners for 18 years. Tedd, an international program educator-team evaluator, and Shellie, a Pet Partners handler-instructor, have traveled to national and international cities to evaluate handlers and dogs to become registered Pet Partners and certify new Team Evaluators to help grow the organization.
