Tech Time debuts at CL Library on Saturday

Tech Time will debut at the library tomorrow. On May 11 and 25 from 12 to 2 p.m. patrons ages 18 and older can have their questions about the Internet, tech, or other devices answered by an expert with more than 15 years of experience in the field. Patrons are encouraged to bring in their devices, such as laptops, smartphones and tablets.

Miss Ginny’s Preschool Story Time, a program for children ages three to five, will meet on May 17 and 31 at 11:30 a.m. The theme for May 17 will be superheroes. The every other Friday program includes an interactive story, music and movement activities. Parents may attend with their children in addition to older and younger children as long as they do not disrupt the program.

Toddler Story Time meets every Monday at 11 a.m. in the Kid’s Cove at the library. Mrs. Blackford engages the children with stories, songs and other activities appropriate for toddlers ages three and younger. The program provides opportunities for young children to use their growing vocabulary and experience social interaction with other children. A make and take home craft is included in the program.

Play Day will meet on Monday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The program includes music and movement, a story, playtime, a craft to make and take home and light snacks.

The Knitting and Crochet Crafters program meets on the first and third Fridays of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. The part-social, part-educational program is open to new members of all skill levels. Loaner tools and supplies are available.

The Adult Book Club will meet on Monday, May 20, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. This month’s selection is “The Kitchen God’s Wife” by Amy Tan. The Jr. Book Club, for kids in grades fourth through seventh, will meet on Wednesday, May 22, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. This month’s selection is “Doctor Dolittle” by Hugh Lofting. New members are welcome. Copies of the book selection of the month are available at the library.

The 2019 Summer Reading Program will be June 10 through July 27. This year’s theme is “It’s Showtime!” During the program, kids are encouraged to set personal reading goals and are rewarded when those goals are met.

The library’s Roots to Grow program offers free homework help for students on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. High school students earn volunteer credit for assisting younger children in their studies. Students wishing to volunteer should contact the library in advance to express their interest.

All library programs are free. A library card is required to borrow items and to use many of the digital offerings on the Riverside County Library System’s (RCLS) website. The first library card is free; replacement cards are $1. There is no minimum age for a library cardholder; however, a legal guardian’s signed permission is required for a juvenile card.

The library will be closed May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. Located inside the City Hall building at 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd., the Canyon Lake Library offers programs for all ages.
