Lioness Bingo Fundraiser

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Lioness Club, bingo is held at the Canyon Lake Senior Center on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to State Law, players must be 18 or older to play.

Admission is $10 per six-sheet set; special games are available for $1 each. Those wishing to attend from outside the community should call Nancy Coughlin at 951-805-0543 or Joanna Spiller at 951-244-1553 for gate entrance.

Twenty19 Pet Walk

The Twenty19 Pet Walk will be held tomorrow, May 11, at 9 a.m. The 1.5-mile scenic walk will begin at the levee of the Diamond Stadium, 500 Diamond Dr., Lake Elsinore. Registration will take place on the morning of the event. A raffle will take place at the conclusion of the event. All pets must be leashed at all times. Vendor opportunities are available. Free Health Seminar

The Consumer Health and Wellness Advocacy will present “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” tomorrow, May 11, in the Magnolia Room at the Canyon Lake Country Club. Choose between two times, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Admission is free, seating is limited. Topics will cover how to save money and shop healthy, holistic breakthroughs for health management, natural weight management solutions and personal finance tips and tools. Menifee Historical Museum

The Menifee Valley Historial Museum will present a free program about Dorothy McElhinney and the Pinto Ranch on May 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the Antelope-Menifee Rural Center, 31850 Haun Rd.  Dorothy’s daughter will share her story about growing up on the ranch. Summer Basketball Camp

The Titan Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls in grades 2nd through 8th will be held June 17 through June 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Temescal Canyon High School’s gym. Registration before June 1 is $75. Registration after June 1 is $85. Siblings receive a $10 discount.

Peace Officer’s Memorial Run

The 36th annual Riverside County Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony and Run will be held on Monday, May 20. Riverside County law enforcement agencies and surviving family members will remember peace officers who have died in the line of duty at a solemn ceremony in front of the “Safe in His Arms” memorial statue at 4102 Orange St. in Riverside, beginning promptly at 6:15 p.m. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and participate in the moderate run/jog which will begin prior to the ceremony at 5:45 p.m. at the corner of Orange Street and 12th Street. Registration is not required for the run and is open to everyone of all ages and abilities.

Festival

The We Love America Festival will be held on Saturday, July 6, from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Outlets at Lake Elsinore at 17600 Collier Ave. The festival is a salute to active military, veterans and first responders. The event features live music, art displays, entertainment, beer garden, food trucks, more than 90 vendors and a fun zone for kids featuring a waterslide, bounce house, crafts and carnival games.

Caregivers Connection

Caregivers Connection is an outreach for those caring for a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other diseases of the aging. JoAnn Wickerath and Bev Haney lead a group with informational talks, videos and fellowship. This is a great opportunity to speak with other caregivers and share information, tips and experiences. Meetings are typically held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church in Building C. Attendees are asked to refrain from using perfume at the meetings as there are those who are allergic to the chemicals in perfume. Farmers Market

The Canyon Lake Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot.

Chronic Illness Support

The Chronic Illness Support Group meets on the first Monday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. All ages are welcome to attend. The group provides the opportunity to share and receive support from others who have chronic conditions, whether from illness or physical issues. Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants discover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them. Celebrate Recovery meets every Sunday at 6 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They offer Celebrate Recovery (recovery for adults 18 and older); The Landing (recovery for teens); Celebration Place (recovery for kids); and free childcare. A potluck is held on the first Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Marianne at 951-244-1877, ext. 209.

Vail Headquarters

Sunday Funday events held at Vail Headquarters, 32115 Temecula Parkway, Temecula, offer fun for the whole family. Activities include arts and crafts, train rides, picnic games, historical displays and more. Sunday Funday is held every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other rotating entertainment includes live blacksmithing demonstrations, stagecoach rides, Momtrepreneurs vendor market (first Sunday of the month), petting zoo, live music and dance performances.

Bereavement Support

A 13-week session of the Bereavement Support Group started on Jan. 14. Sessions are held on Mondays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Building A at Canyon Lake Community Church. Evening sessions are held on Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Grief Share provides helpful information on grief-related topics. To register, contact Pastor Pete Van Dyke at 951-244-1877, ext. 204.

Expressive Art Class

Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area, hosts a free Expressive Art Class every other Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The class uses art as a form of therapy and self-exploration. Sessions help to practice creativity while opening the door to calming strategies and awareness techniques. Participants gain a better insight of themselves through sharing feelings and exploring a host of topics with group dialogue and discussion. It’s part art, part relaxing, part “therapy,” part discussion and a positive diversion for anyone. No reservations, fees or art experience required. For dates and times, visit michellesplace.org.

Genealogy Research

The Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society (LEGS) business and program meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of each month, except July and August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lakeland Village Community Center, 16275 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore. Meetings are free and open to the public.

On Apr. 11, speaker Kristi Sexton will be speaking on the topic of “Digging in FindaGrave.” Genealogy has been a major part of Kristi’s life for nearly three decades. She has been serving as president of the Orange County California Genealogical Society and is an Adjunct Professor for Brigham Young University in the Family History department.

MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. MOPS seeks to support mothers during the early years of their children’s lives. By connecting with other moms and mentor moms, craft projects and guest speakers, women are encouraged in their physical, emotional and spiritual journeys. Childcare is provided.

The moms fellowship over hot coffee and a warm breakfast, then enjoy a speaker or craft. Those desiring “coffee talk” are invited to contact Karla Holenbeck at 951-317-6803.

Sewing, Quilting Group

Residents are invited to the senior center for sewing and quilting on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a project and sewing machine, or just visit and check it out. For more information, contact Terri Ireland at 951-246-2571.

Breast Cancer Resources

Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group in Canyon Lake led by Janelle Basham and Kimberly Slingerland. The pair mentor, educate and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their journey. For more information, visit clbosombuddies.com.

Michelle’s Place, 27645 Jefferson Ave., Ste. 117, Temecula, is a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding areas. The center’s mission is to provide emotional and educational support to those touched with breast cancer and facilitate breast health care services. Women’s Circles

Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle provides an opportunity for small group fellowship. Faith Circle meets the third Monday at 7 p.m.; Julia Circle meets the second Monday at 10:30 a.m.; Priscilla Circle meets the first Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.; Sonshine Circle meets the third Monday at 9:30 a.m.; Sunset Circle meets the second Sunday at 5:30 p.m.; Love Circle meets the second Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. For more information about the Women’s Circles, contact Circle Coordinator Phyllis Duncan at 951-674-4436.

Menifee Historical Museum

The Menifee Valley Historial Museum contains displays about Canyon Lake history, provided by Canyon Lake pioneers, Don and Elinor Martin, who sometimes serve as docents. Steering Wheel Covers

The Canyon Lake Lioness Club offers custom-made steering wheel covers made of many different materials and patterns that keep steering wheels from becoming too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
