More than 200 women filled the Holiday Bay Room last Friday for the Woman’s Club Fashion Show, an annual fundraiser that raises a hefty chunk of the $30,000 to $50,000 the club gives away each year to local charities and to Canyon Lake women and girls in the form of scholarships.
The “Adventures in Paradise” show featured fashions modeled by club members, a catered lunch, entertainment, five $500 grand prize drawings, a silent auction featuring more than 100 items, 10 themed basket raffles and door prize raffles.
The winners of the themed baskets (valued at $200 each) are Kathy West, Carmel Lemke, Suzi Delia, Margaret Dombay, Bonnie Wade, Karin Cassidy, Bev Arch, Grace Ward and Corrie Tutt who won two baskets.
Jennie Ehrenkranz, Sandra Strong, Janet Sundstedt, Daryl France and Meg Weiland each won $500 cash in the grand prize drawing.
A new addition to this year’s show was the club’s Unique Boutique, a selection of new and gently used clothing and accessories donated by club members. Attendees were invited to shop at the pop-up boutique before the show and during intermission.
The show was co-chaired by Daryl France, Johncee Cochran and Corrie Tutt with the help of many volunteers. More than modeling clothes, the Fashion Show models friendships and fundraising. Friendships are formed and strengthened through the countless hours the women spend working together to prepare for this grand event. The elements of the show that help the club raise money are the pre-parties, ticket sales, silent auction, raffles, door prizes and grand prizes.
