Triathlon Club event benefits animal shelter

Approximately 25 cycling enthusiasts participated in the Triathlon and Fitness Club’s annual Tour de Canyon Lake on Saturday. The event raised $190 and more than 100 pounds of food for Animal Friends of the Valleys. Those who made a donation received a free event T-shirt.

The 15-mile bike ride throughout the community started at the lodge and traveled to the main gate, east gate, north gate and campground, ending back at the lodge.

“It was great to have people of all ages and abilities join and enjoy the spring weather,” said event organizer Karin Cassidy. “We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area for cycling and outdoor activities.”

The club invites all residents to join in on its fitness events, training sessions, organized races and social activities. In addition to cyclists, club members include runners, walkers, paddle boarders and triathletes of all levels. Annual dues are $30 for individuals and $40 for families.
