Meet the POA candidates at two candidate forums

Before the 2019/21 POA Board of Directors Election on May 9, residents will have the opportunity to meet and hear directly from the five candidates, Jeanne O’Dell, Tom Nathan, Chris Poland, Phil Hawgood and Mike Harris, at two upcoming candidate forums.

The 6th annual Speak to the Candidates forum will be held on Monday, Apr. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Sponsored by 27 Canyon Lake clubs and organizations, Speak to the Candidates provides an opportunity for homeowners to speak directly to the five candidates with questions that are important to the homeowners and to hear first-hand each candidate’s response. Homeowners who want more information about the candidates and their positions on vital issues in Canyon Lake are urged to attend this forum.

The forum will be moderated by Joanna Spiller and Riverside County 1st District Supervisor Kevin Jeffries. Joe Kamashian, who has been the group’s chairman since its inception, is transitioning his position to Ron Martel.  “It has been a great experience bringing 27 clubs and organizations together to provide a neutral forum for the community to speak directly to the candidates,” said Joe.

The event is sponsored by the Bassmasters Club, Car Club, Chair Volleyball Club, Choraleers, CLAMS, CLAPPS, CLIPPS, Emergency Preparedness, Family Golf Club, Fine Arts Guild, Homeowners Club, Jr. Women’s Club, Lioness Club, Lions Club, Men’s Golf Club, 9ers Golf Club, Pickleball Club, Roadrunners Club, Ski Club, Street Carts of Canyon Lake, Tennis Club, Community Theater Group, Travel Club, Tuesday Work Group, Woman’s Club, Women’s Golf Club and Yacht Club.

The forum will be recorded and posted online at canyonlakepoa.com/watch.

Hosted by the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, Meet the Candidates will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 9, at 6 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Seating is limited. This forum will not be televised.
