Lifelong Canyon Lake resident Dane Padrnos is among seven Student of the Month Program honorees feted at a recognition luncheon on Feb. 12.

The 17-year-old attends Temescal Canyon High School where he is enrolled in three AP classes and carries a 4.0 GPA. The left-handed pitcher has been a member of the TCHS varsity baseball team for the past three years.

In his spare time between studies and baseball practice, Dane coaches TCHS Itty Bitty T-ball, a fundraiser for TCHS Baseball Booster Club. Now in its 20th season, Dane participated in the fundraiser when he first stepped onto a field at three years old. He went on to play in Canyon Lake’s Little League from the age of five to 13.

“Dane owns his work ethic, both on and off the field, to his dad and Mark Terry, who are both former Little League and travel ball coaches,” said Dane’s mother Adena.

Dane believes in challenges and lives by the maxim, “The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory.”

Dane has been offered a D1 scholarship from Alabama A&M University and a D2 scholarship from California State University San Marcos. He wants to study software engineering once his choice of college is determined.

The Student of the Month Program was originally founded in 1992 by Sally Myers, BMW Management, Inc. The Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce is the Lake Elsinore host and sponsor.
