Birdy is a three-year-old Labrador Retriever mix looking for a “fur”ever home. Her caretakers say she is an ac-tive, energetic girl who enjoys going for walks and bonding with her human. She is good with other dogs close to her size but doesn’t quite understand smaller dogs. Birdy is spayed and ready for adoption. Her intake number is 446789. Reference picture: Birdy.

Penny is a six-year-old tabby cat. Don’t let her resting furrowed brow fool you, this gal is super sweet and chill. According to her caretakers, she loves to have her ears scratched and tailbone rubbed. Penny is spayed and ready to go to her “fur”ever home. Her intake number is 449448. Reference picture: Penny.

All dog and cat adoption fees include a microchip, basic shelter vaccines (excluding rabies) and a free veterinar-ian check-up. All cats/kittens, pit bulls and Chihuahua adoptions are just $5 (spay/neuter fees, if applicable, are additional).

For adoption or fostering, contact Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) at 951-674-0618. The shelter is located at 33751 Mission Trail in Wildomar. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shelter offers animals for adoption as well as providing animal control and spay/neuter services.

Low cost vaccinations and $20 microchipping are available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at AFV’s Low Cost Spay/ Neuter Clinic at 29001 Bastron Ave., Lake Elsinore. Walk-ins are welcome. To make an appoint-ment, call 951-674-7729 (SPAY) or 951-374-3491.
