Donate unwanted eyeglasses to Lions Club

The Canyon Lake Lions Club members will be collecting new and used eyeglasses tomorrow, Mar. 16, as part of a statewide effort to help those with vision problems.

The club is asking residents to drop off their unwanted eyeglasses at the booth in front of Pack, Wrap and Post between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The club is also collecting unwanted hearing aids and cell phones.

The collected eyeglasses will be delivered to the regional Lions eyeglass recycling centers where volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package them. The recycled eyeglasses are then distributed to people in need in the United States and in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact.

Residents who can’t make it to the drop off location on Mar. 16 are asked to place their unwanted eyeglasses in the Lions Club donation boxes located at the country club and at Pack, Wrap and Post. Eyeglasses may also be mailed to Lions Clubs International Headquarters Receiving Department, 300 W. 22nd St., Oak Brook, Illinois, 60523.

Eyeglasses can change another person’s life. Glasses can help a senior maintain their independence, an adult succeed in their job and a child read. For more information about Lions Recycle for Sight, visit or
