Couple walks every street in Canyon Lake

Debbie and Dave Johnson recently completed a goal of walking every street in Canyon Lake. It was a goal they set out to accomplish when Dave retired. It took the couple 18 months to complete the challenge. “Vacations and home remodeling projects got in the way,” said Debbie, “Otherwise, we would have completed our goal sooner.”

According to the POA, there are 36 miles of road. Debbie and Dave used a map of Canyon Lake to keep track of the streets they walked.

“We made a copy of the map in the Residential Directory and just ran a highlighter through each street we walked to keep track,” said Debbie. “We enjoyed the people we met along the way.”

Debbie has always enjoyed walking. Dave, on the other hand, “not so much,” said Debbie.

Since completing their goal, Debbie has been setting new goals, such as hiking on nearby trails. Dave enjoys walking more now than he ever did and continues to walk when he’s not working on home improvement projects.

Debbie and Dave have been married for 19 years. They relocated from Hemet to Canyon Lake 10 years ago.
