CLMS beats 24 teams, wins championship

The Canyon Lake Middle School competition cheer team competed at the NRG Golden State Championship at West Covina High School on Feb. 9 where they beat out 24 teams to earn the title of Grand Champions. They also won Middle School Show Cheer, Most Outstanding Tumbling and Captain’s Cheer Trio.

The girls competed in individual contests for tumbling and jumps. Canyon Lake resident and team captain Bella Roe placed first in Tumbling. Canyon Lakers Allyson Villareal and Kolena Apana also placed. Allyson placed first in Jumps and Kolena placed second in Tumbling.

The team is coached by Tammy Howard and Kendall Howard. Members of the team who reside in Canyon Lake are Allyson Villarreal, Callie Reeves, Eliana Ruyle, Emily Graham, Emma Dornay, Julia Zitzke, Katelynn Stout, Kennedy Benham, Kolena Apana, McKenzie Cassara, Natasha Warner, Riley Bergherm, Sawyer Lanouette and Summer Scott. Additional team members include captain Bella Roe, Gage Dudziak, captain Kailani Rjiejahh, captain Kaley Pelton, Lacey Castillo, Katrina deVera and Serenity Llorin.
