Canyon Lake couple celebrates 65th anniversary

Canyon Lake residents Jean and John Fyffe celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Mar. 6. The couple met in 1950 at Kelly’s Business College in Niagara Falls, New York.

John was a Canadian citizen, born in Niagara Falls, Canada, and Jean was born in Niagara Falls, New York. Courtship required many trips across the border. They were married on Mar. 6, 1954, in Niagara Falls, New York.

In 1961, after residing in Niagara Falls, Canada, for seven years and having two children, Bonnie and David, the couple packed up and headed to California for the warmer climate.

The couple settled in Orange, California, for 41 years and had two more children, Cheryl and Laurie. John became a U.S. citizen in 1976.

In 2004, Jean and John moved to Canyon Lake to be closer to their family. They fell in love with their “Bit of Paradise.” John is a member of the CLAMS and Jean enjoys weekly game nights at the senior center.

They have ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
