Murphys named Sweetheart Couple of the Year

The Men’s Golf Club named Merilyn and Gary Murphy Sweetheart Couple of the Year at its Sweetheart Golf Tournament on Feb. 10. Merilyn and Gary were recognized for their 16 years of marriage and their service to the community.

Merilyn and Gary were married on Sept. 24, 2003, on a beach in Carmel, California. It is the second marriage for both of them. Merilyn acquired two daughters and Gary acquired two sons and a daughter. The couple enjoys spending time with their many grandchildren.

The couple relocated to Canyon Lake in 2003. Gary is a member of the Men’s Golf Club and Travel Club. Merilyn is a member of the Women’s Golf Club and served on its board last year. She is also a member of the Canyon Lake Quilters Dozen, a group that makes quilts for veterans.
