Temecula Rod Run

The Temecula Rod Run kicks off today, Mar. 1, with a Friday night cruise from 5 to 8 p.m. in Old Town Temecula. The fun continues the next day with the Show and Shine Car Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring more than 600 vehicles on display, music, entertainment, food and vendors. Museum Grand Opening

After three years since Murrieta Valley Historical Society formed and 64 years since Mrs. Hunt gifted her home to the children of Murrieta, the first official Murrieta Museum is set to open on Sunday, Apr. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 41810 Juniper St., Murrieta.

Chronic Illness Support

The Chronic Illness Support Group meets on the first Monday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Senior Center. All ages are welcome to attend. The group provides the opportunity to share and receive support from others who have chronic conditions, whether from illness or physical issues. Free Health Seminar

The Consumer Health and Wellness Advocacy will present “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” on Mar. 2 and Apr. 6. in the Magnolia Room at the Canyon Lake Country Club. Choose between two times, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Admission is free, seating is limited. Topics will cover how to save money and shop healthy, holistic breakthroughs for health management, natural weight management solutions and personal finance tips and tools. Amazing Outlet Race

The Amazing Outlet Race will be held on Saturday, Mar. 16 at the Lake Elsinore Outlets, 17600 Collier Ave. Entry is free. Registration begins at 2 p.m. Race through an inflatable obstacle course, master the challenges and get your shot at winning a pot of gold and other prizes. Three people maximum per team.

Big Barn Car Show

The 7th annual Big Barn Car Show will be held on Apr. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Motte Historical Museum at 28380 HWY 74 in Menifee. The family-friendly event will feature live music, vendors, exhibitors, food and awards. The museum will be open for guests to tour the Motte family collection of antique and classic cars. AFV Golf Tournament

Animal Friends of the Valleys Fore the Animals Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Apr. 19, at 7 a.m. at Menifee Lakes Country Club. The event includes live and silent auctions, boxed lunch, banquet dinner and more. Free Irrigation 101 Workshop

Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District and the Inland Empire Waterkeepers are hosting a free Irrigation 101 Workshop on Saturday, May 4, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at EVMWD headquarters at 31315 Chaney St., Lake Elsinore. Women’s Symposium

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is hosting its 4th annual Women’s Symposium on Mar. 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center at 14075 Frederick St., Moreno Valley. Women interested in a career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department won’t want to miss this unique opportunity to listen to testimonials from women working in the Sheriff’s Department. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask guest speakers questions and even begin the application process for women who are ready to start a career. Lambs Car Show

Lambs Fellowship Car and Motorcycle Show will be held on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 21901 Railroad Canyon Rd. This event features hundreds of cars and motorcycles on display, live music, raffles and food trucks.

Lioness Bingo Fundraiser

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Lioness Club, bingo is held at the Canyon Lake Senior Center on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to State Law, players must be 18 or older to play. Admission is $10 per six-sheet set; special games are available for $1 each. Eggapalooza

Hop on down to McVicker Canyon Park, 29355 McVicker Canyon Park Rd, Lake Elsinore, for a fun-filled afternoon of arts and crafts, activity booths, food and an egg hunt on Apr. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. Kids ages two to seven are invited to participate in the egg hunt with over 14,000 treasure filled eggs. Be sure to look for a golden ticket. There will be live entertainment, amusements and a visit from the Easter bunny. Vendor opportunities are available. Vendors must have a valid City of Lake Elsinore Business License and all non-profits are required to offer a free activity for kids ages four to 12. Twenty19 Pet Walk

The Twenty19 Pet Walk will be held on Saturday, May 11. The 1.5-mile scenic walk will begin promptly at 9 a.m. at the levee of the Diamond Stadium, 500 Diamond Dr., Lake Elsinore, Registration will take place on the morning of the event. Vail Headquarters

Sunday Funday events held at Vail Headquarters, 32115 Temecula Parkway, Temecula, offer fun for the whole family. Activities include arts and crafts, train rides, picnic games, historical displays and more. Sunday Funday is held every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other rotating entertainment includes live blacksmithing demonstrations, stagecoach rides, Momtrepreneurs vendor market (first Sunday of the month), petting zoo, live music and dance performances.

Caregivers Connection

Caregivers Connection is an outreach for those caring for a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other diseases of the aging. The group will meet this month on Mar. 11 and 25. JoAnn Wickerath and Bev Haney lead a group with informational talks, videos and fellowship. This is a great opportunity to speak with other caregivers and share information, tips and experiences. Meetings are held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church in Building C. Attendees are asked to refrain from using perfume at the meetings as there are those who are allergic to the chemicals in perfume. Farmers Market

The Canyon Lake Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot.

Needlework Group

Canyon Lakers are invited to bring their knitting and crocheting supplies and projects to the Canyon Lake Senior Center on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, contact Betty Cannavino at 951-244-4126.

Menifee Historical Museum

The Menifee Valley Historial Museum contains displays about Canyon Lake history, provided by Canyon Lake pioneers, Don and Elinor Martin, who sometimes serve as docents. The museum is located in the old Menifee Elementary School on Garbani Rd. and is open on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, visit menifeehistory.com or call 951-708-6842. Instead of the regular program in January, a field trip is planned on Jan. 19 to the Historic Patterson House in Winchester.

Bereavement Support

A 13-week session of the Bereavement Support Group started on Jan. 14. Sessions are held on Mondays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Building A at Canyon Lake Community Church. Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits, and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants discover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them. Celebrate Recovery meets every Sunday at 6 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They offer Celebrate Recovery (recovery for adults 18 and older); The Landing (recovery for teens); Celebration Place (recovery for kids); and free childcare. A potluck is held on the first Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Marianne at 951-244-1877, ext. 209.

Expressive Art Class

Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area, hosts a free Expressive Art Class every other Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The class uses art as a form of therapy and self-exploration. Sessions help to practice creativity while opening the door to calming strategies and awareness techniques. Participants gain a better insight of themselves through sharing feelings and exploring a host of topics with group dialogue and discussion. It’s part art, part relaxing, part “therapy,” part discussion and a positive diversion for anyone. No reservations, fees or art experience required. For dates and times, visit michellesplace.org.

Genealogy Research

The Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society (LEGS) business and program meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday of each month, except July and August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lakeland Village Community Center, 16275 Grand Ave., Lake Elsinore. MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. MOPS seeks to support mothers during the early years of their children’s lives. By connecting with other moms and mentor moms, craft projects and guest speakers, women are encouraged in their physical, emotional and spiritual journeys. Childcare is provided.

The moms fellowship over hot coffee and a warm breakfast, then enjoy a speaker or craft. Those desiring “coffee talk” are invited to contact Karla Holenbeck at 951-317-6803.

Sewing, Quilting Group

Breast Cancer Resources

Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group in Canyon Lake led by Janelle Basham and Kimberly Slingerland. The pair mentor, educate and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their journey. For more information, visit clbosombuddies.com.

Michelle’s Place, 27645 Jefferson Ave., Ste. 117, Temecula, is a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding areas. The center’s mission is to provide emotional and educational support to those touched with breast cancer and facilitate breast health care services. Women’s Circles

Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle provides an opportunity for small group fellowship. Steering Wheel Covers

The Canyon Lake Lioness Club offers custom-made steering wheel covers made of many different materials and patterns that keep steering wheels from becoming too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
