Canyon Lakers named Player of the Week

Temescal Canyon High School baseball team Player of the Week for week one of league play is Canyon Laker Jack McClellan. Canyon Laker Devlin Lindeman was named Player of the Week in week two of league play.

In the first two games, Jack has been an offensive force. The varsity player collected three hits, including a double, and has been on base seven times in eight opportunities. He has driven in four RBIs, scored three runs and stolen four bases.

In week two, Devlin Lindeman collected four hits in three games, three of which were home runs. Devlin drove in a total of six RBIs, scored five runs, picked off two runners and threw out three of four base stealers. On the mound, Devlin closed out two games, earning one save while giving up two hits and striking out three batters in two innings.

TCHS baseball players are dedicating this season in honor of their fallen classmate Kennedie Ryan, a TCSH senior who passed away in a car accident on Railroad Canyon Road in October 2018. The hashtag #playforken is displayed on a banner on the fence facing the field to remind the players who they’re playing for this year.

The players invite Canyon Lakers to attend their upcoming games. Admission and parking are free. The March schedule for the varsity team is as follows:

Tuesday, Mar. 5, 5 p.m.: TCHS versus Canyon Springs High School at TCHS.

Thursday, Mar. 7, 3:15 p.m.: TCHS versus Canyon Springs High School at Canyon Springs High School.

Tuesday, Mar. 12, 3:15 p.m.: TCHS versus Valley View High School at Valley View High School.

Thursday, Mar. 14. 5 p.m.: TCHS versus Valley View High School at TCHS.

Tuesday, Mar. 19, 3:15 p.m.: TCHS versus Heritage High School at TCHS.

Thursday, Mar. 21, 3:15 p.m.: TCHS versus Heritage High School at Heritage High School.

Canyon Lake residents on this year’s junior varsity/varsity roster include Andrew Grau, DJ Jones, Devlin Lindeman, Travis Herbert, Dylan Hemborg, Dane Padrnos, Jacob Galindo, Andrew Villarreal, Hayden Benham, Nolan Smith, Justin Foland, Devin Hughes and Jack McClellan.

The coaches are head coach Neal Post, assistant coach Joe Balli, pitching coach Mike Sepulveda, junior varsity/varsity assistant coach Eddie Ruiz and junior varsity/varsity assistant coach Dave Jones.

The team is hosting a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings in Menifee at 30123 Haun Road. Diners are asked to mention TCHS Baseball or Team B when dining at the restaurant; the program will receive 10 percent of the sales.

The team is also seeking sponsorships from local businesses who would like to advertise on a banner facing the 15 freeway. For sponsorship information, contact Erin Balli at 951-852-5183.
