Woman’s Club hosts annual Cooking Class

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club hosted its 3rd annual Cooking Class on Saturday at the senior center. The Cooking Class is the second of five pre-parties leading up to the club’s annual Fashion Show on Apr. 26.

The class featured Chef Louise Nielsen, a certified pastry chef with the American Culinary Federation. Chef Louise cooked a five-course meal that included stuffed dates, cold cucumber and shrimp soup with cilantro, coriander marinated pork tenderloin with creamy polenta, salad with radishes, feta and cumin vinaigrette and Meyer lemon parfait with phyllo cookies. Recipes were provided for attendees to take home.

The remaining three Fashion Show pre-parties will be held in March and April. Jeannette Williams and Cathy Buell are hosting a ladies only “Out of Africa” pre-party on Mar. 15 from 3 to 6 p.m. at 30301 White Cove Ct.

Johncee Cochran is hosting a “Pirates in Paradise” pre-party on Apr. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 29659 Longhorn Dr. Men are welcome to attend. The final pre-party, “Gidget Goes Hawaiian,” will be hosted by Karen Wallace on Apr. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 30674 Spyglass Way. Men are welcome to attend.

The cost to attend a pre-party is $10 and includes a drink and appetizers. All proceeds go toward the club’s philanthropy projects.
