Beverly McBride, an early Canyon Lake resident, was gently and softly called home to heaven in the early morning hours on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world Aug. 26, 1921, in Pomona, CA, to Leo and Mabel Kappes. She was the oldest of two daughters, she and Jacqueline.

Beverly attended Pomona High School and Mt. Sac College. Bev met her husband, Mac, at the end of World War II while she was working at Cal Aero Chino Air Force Base. Beverly and Mac were married in New Orleans Feb. 3, 1945. They were married 64 years until his passing in 2009.

Bev was a secretary at Sears and ABC School District for approximately 20 years. During those years, she was active in numerous clubs. She and Mac learned to square dance and water ski. These activities became a passion in their lives.

Bev and Mac purchased a lot in Canyon Lake around 1970. They designed and built their home in 1987 when they retired to a life full of travel, adventure and countless activities with beloved friends and family.

Through the years, she was active in many organizations in Canyon Lake including Twirlers, Roadrunners, Rovers, Travel Club, Woman’s Club, Elks, GoGo Girls and Mainstream. She attended water aerobics at the pool until she was in her 90s. She loved games and belonged to at least three bunco groups.

Bev and Mac loved all aspects of traveling: RV trips, cruises, camping and tours to all corners of the world.

Beverly is remembered for having a kind and gentle spirit. She was a little shy. She loved her friends and family, who were all so very important to her. Her positive, optimistic, spirit and gentle smile will remain in our hearts forever.

Memorial service will be held at Canyon Lake Community Church Chapel on Friday, Mar. 1, at 11 a.m.
