CL Woman’s Club hosts New Member Luncheon

The Woman’s Club welcomed its new members during its annual New Member Luncheon on Feb. 6 at the Treasure Island clubhouse.

Hosted by the club’s board members, the luncheon provided the opportunity for new members to get to know each other and learn more about the club, its events and the volunteer opportunities it offers. Thirty-three new members attended the luncheon. “This is the largest group of new members that we’ve had,” said Membership Co-Chair Daryl France.

The club’s next event will be its 3rd annual Cooking Class fundraiser. The class will be held tomorrow, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the senior center. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased by contacting Rose Marie Hand at 951-212-1946 or Jan May at 951-970-8333. Seating is limited.

Chef Louise Nielsen will be cooking a five-course meal consisting of stuffed dates, cold cucumber and shrimp soup with cilantro, coriander marinated pork tenderloin with creamy polenta, salad with radishes, feta and cumin vinaigrette and Meyer lemon parfait with phyllo cookies. Recipes will be provided for attendees to take home.

The Woman’s Club is dedicated to the enrichment of Canyon Lake and helping others less fortunate. Its mission is to provide a safe gathering place for the women of Canyon Lake, to raise funds to help those in need and to provide scholarships to local students for the continuation of their education after high school. The Woman’s Club membership is made up of more than 200 women ranging from ages 18 to 96.

The Woman’s Club meets monthly on the third Wednesday in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Vendor hour starts at 9 a.m., the meeting starts at 10 a.m. and lunch is served at 12 p.m. Lunch is $14.
