Polar Bears invited to brrrr-ing it on Saturday

The Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club, Ski Club and ShowCal Skiers invited Canyon Lakers of all ages to grab a wakeboard, waterski, show ski, wakeskate, swivel ski, jumper, hydrofoil or trick skis and head over to Sunset Beach tomorrow, Jan. 5, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the annual Polar Bear Day. This is a free event with boats and crews provided.

Participants will receive an official Polar Bear Day shirt and a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes donated by local businesses. Pre-registration is not required.

Participants who dare to “feel the thrill of the chill” will have to do so wearing only swimsuits and ski vests during their ride. The sponsoring clubs will treat participants to a warm fire, barbeque and hot drinks after their rides.

Residents who choose not to participate are encouraged to cheer on the “polar bears” from Sunset Beach, lakefront homes and decks.
