Dottie Libring, a pioneer in Canyon Lake’s early history purchasing a lot on Appaloosa Ct. in 1969, passed away on Oct. 14. Actively involved in the Travel Club, Square Dance Twirlers group and other clubs early in the 1970s, Dottie and her husband Dick made Canyon Lake their permanent home in 1979.

A couple years later, her son Steve Libring and daughter Carol Roberson also moved to Canyon Lake full-time and raised six of her seven grandchildren here in paradise.

Dottie worked in the L.A. County Library system for 20 years before coming to Canyon Lake and was involved in starting the Canyon Lake Library. She spent numerous hours volunteering to read stories to the children of Canyon Lake.

Dottie and her husband loved to dance, were part of local bowling teams, shot pool, and were members of the local Elks where they had many friends socially. Dottie is survived by her two daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, older sister Mary Marsh also of Canyon Lake, younger brother Jim Nelson of Yucaipa, and younger sister Betty Wright who lives in Oregon.

Dottie was just a few months away from celebrating her 90th birthday. Private services were held with just family.
