POA to install off-leash dog areas at parks

The POA will be installing off-leash dog areas at Emerald Park on Gray Fox Dr. and Outrigger Park on Outrigger Dr. Due to limited space at each park, the off-leash area will consist of one big open area without fence separations for large and small dogs. Items to be included are dog pots, bags, and metal benches with fixed metal umbrellas. There also will be a small increase in operations cost.

At the Board of Directors Regular Session Meeting, the board approved funding in the amount of $14,786.30 plus five percent contingency to come from CIP fund 05-670 for the off-leash areas. The approximate costs are $9,120 for fencing at both parks, $3,518 for two benches with umbrellas and $2,148.30 for dog pots, for a total cost of $14,786.30.

Parks that currently allow dogs are East Port Park, Harrelson Park, Emerald Park, Lions Park and Outrigger Park. All dogs must remain on a leash with the exception of dogs inside the fenced area at East Port Park.
