Artist Risa Gettler will be sharing her calligraphy talents at the library by making custom bookmarks on Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 1 to 6 p.m. She will be in the library as visitors watch their names become original works of art which they can take home. Her visit is sponsored by the Friends of the Canyon Lake Library.

On Nov. 19 at 11 a.m., visitors can practice their own lettering skills during the Make a Gratitude Art Project program. With the theme of Thanksgiving, the project will have smooth rocks and paint for individual artists to add a word of gratitude. The artworks will be kept by their creators.

Miss Ginny’s Story Time for preschoolers will not be meeting Nov. 2 due to the room being prepared for the elections the following Tuesday. The program will resume on Nov. 16 to celebrate Thanksgiving. The Nov. 30 program will celebrate National Cookie Week. A make and take home craft plus live music is all part of this fun program. Parents may attend in the room with their children.

Play Day will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. with Movin’ n Music, followed by a craft, play time and then stories at 11 a.m.

The library sponsors two book clubs. The Adult Book Club meets on the last Monday of each month at 4 p.m. The club is social and informative as the group discusses the topics that emerge from the story. Questions are emailed out prior to the meeting. The Jr. Book Club meets on the last Friday of each month at 4 p.m. and includes fun activities in addition to discussion of the monthly book themes.

Tutoring will be available on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. with the exception of Thanksgiving weekend. This program allows high school students to earn volunteer credit for helping others. Children needing help should bring with them any tools needed to explain what they need help with and any tools which may be required. If the work requires a computer, a USB drive is required to save work from a library computer.

Public computers are available for use at the library. Saving is possible with the use of a removable drive such as a USB.

The Canyon Lake Library is located inside the Canyon Lake City Hall building at 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd. The library is open on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
