Residents are invited to give the gift of a Thanksgiving meal by donating to the city’s 7th annual Frozen Turkey and Food Drive on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. Food collected is donated to Helping Our People in Elsinore (H.O.P.E). Residents who wish to participate may drop off frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items at City Hall, 31516 Railroad Canyon Rd., on the day of the drive. The city is unable to store frozen turkeys so they need to be dropped off at the date and time indicated.

Suggested items include frozen turkey, whole frozen chicken, stuffing mix and gravy mix, canned mushroom soup, canned green beans, canned yams and brown sugar, miniature marshmallows, cornbread mix, hot chocolate and coffee, cake and cookie mix, non-perishable items and other items of choice.

Canyon Lake residents, clubs and businesses are encouraged to participate in the program to enable the community’s most vulnerable residents and their families to enjoy the holidays this year.

Last year’s Frozen Turkey and Food Drive resulted in 80 frozen turkeys and bags of food being donated.

For more than 25 years, the non-profit H.O.P.E. has been serving the less fortunate in Elsinore Valley through its food ministry. Services provided by H.O.P.E.  benefit more than 100 Canyon Lake families.
