Cruise over to Car Show

More than 200 pre-1977 classic and custom vehicles sporting shiny reds, blues and yellows will roar into Canyon Lake tomorrow for the 13th annual Car Show at the lodge. Gates open to the public at 9 a.m. Admission is free.

Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Car Club and POA, the Car Show features hundreds of vintage cars, trucks and hot rods, food, merchandise vendors, music, awards, silent auction, prize drawings and a ski show on the main lake.

The Lighthouse Restaurant will offer a special custom menu for this event.

Judging of the cars will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. More than 25 awards in various categories will be presented at 2 p.m. As hosts of the Car Show, Canyon Lake Car Club members are not eligible to win trophies. Prize raffles and 50/50 drawing will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Owners of pre-1977 vehicles are invited to participate in the Car Show. Last minute check-in can be done at the lodge between 7 and 9 a.m. on Saturday. Participants do not need to be a member of the Car Club or a resident of Canyon Lake. Registration is $25 and includes a logo T-shirt, goody bag and a commemorative magnetic dash plaque.

As a nonprofit organization, all of the proceeds from the Car Show are donated to various groups and causes in and outside of Canyon Lake. Proceeds have been donated to the Canyon Lake Veterans Memorial, Progeria Research Foundation, Oak Grove Center in Murrieta, Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee, Canyon Lake Fire Station 60, charity golf tournaments and college scholarships, to name a few.
