Canyon Lakers vacation with friends in Kihei

Danielle and Jamie Holmes spent their summer vacation in August with friends in Kihei, a beach-combing territory on Maui’s southwest shore. It’s the sunniest, driest end of the island.

Fortunately, they missed the arrival of hurricanes Hector and Lane. “We were there the week between the two hurricanes,” said Danielle.

The Canyon Lakers traveled the road to Hana, stopping along the way to visit the Garden of Eden where they enjoyed unique flowers, rare trees and breathtaking views of the ocean.

In Hana, they visited Wai’anapanapa State Park where they enjoyed the black sand beach and posed for a photo with The Friday Flyer.

Jamie and Danielle also enjoyed barbecuing on the beach, swimming in the ocean, watching magnificent sunsets and happy hour at the Monkeypod Kitchen, a place known for its Mai Tai’s and delicious appetizers.
