Say aloha to summer at Maui Monday on Sept. 3

Taco Tuesdays are over and summer is coming to an end, but there is still one more chance for the community to gather at Sunset Beach to enjoy the lake, ambiance of a summer sunset and camaraderie of neighbors.

Residents are invited to break out their favorite Hawaiian shirt or hula skirt and say aloha to the end of summer Hawaiian style at the 6th annual Maui Monday on Labor Day, Sept. 3, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event is sponsored by the POA.

Maui Monday will feature food, fun and live entertainment. The Lighthouse Restaurant will be offering an island-accented menu consisting of chicken teriyaki, kalua pork, chicken katsu, white rice, fried rice, chow mein, macaroni salad, and musubi. There will also be cheese pizza and Maui pizza for sale by the slice. Food will be served on the lower level of the lodge.

The Kona truck will be at the lodge offering Hawaiian shaved ice.

DJ Mike Shroyer of Good Time Entertainment will provide the beach tunes along with dance, hula hoop, and limbo contests with prizes.

Once the sun goes down, everyone will be invited to gather on the beach to watch hula dancers, Samoan drummers and fire dances performed by the professional Polynesian Entertainment Group. Children and adults are invited to join in the dancing. It is time to make the most of this year’s summer end.
