Lamb’s Movie Night

Lamb’s Fellowship, 21901 Railroad Canyon Rd., is hosting a free family movie night tonight, Aug. 10. Despicable Me 3 will start at 6:30 p.m. at the church’s outdoor amphitheater. This event also features free popcorn, snow cones, root beer floats and bounce houses.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a program that teaches and gives one tools on how to address their hurts, habits, and hang-ups so that they can move forward and find their purpose and a life filled with joy. Participants discover that they are not alone in what they are going through and find people to walk alongside them.

Celebrate Recovery meets every Sunday at 6 p.m. in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They offer Celebrate Recovery (recovery for adults 18+); The Landing (recovery for teens); Celebration Place (recovery for kids); and free childcare. Lioness Bingo Fundraiser

Bingo, sponsored by the Canyon Lake Lioness Club, is held at the Canyon Lake Senior Center on the first and third Sunday of every month from 1 to 4 p.m. Due to State Law, players must be over the age of 18.

Admission is $10 per six-sheet set; special games are available for $1 each. Those wishing to attend from outside the community should call Nancy Coughlin at 951-805-0543 or Joanna Spiller at 951-244-1553 for gate entrance.

Jefferson Starship Concert

Hospice of the Valleys is hosting a Jefferson Starship concert to benefit the patients and families of Hospice of the Valleys on Friday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. at Wiens Winery at 35055 Via Del Ponte in Temecula. Tickets are $95 each. VIP tickets are $380 for a table of four and $950 for a table of 10. VIP tickets include up-close seating, personal server and access to a private wine bar.

Landscape Rebate Program

EVMWD announced the opening of the new Landscape Transformation Rebate Program. In partnership with Metropolitan Water District, this new program provides a rebate to those who remove turf grass and convert to a water-wise landscape. For more information, visit evmwd.com/rebates.

Menifee Historical Museum

The Menifee Valley Historical Museum contains displays about Canyon Lake history, provided by Canyon Lake pioneers Don and Elinor Martin who sometimes serve as docents. The museum is located in the old Menifee Elementary School on Garbani Rd. and is open Sundays, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Kitten Yoga

Join Michelle Rotell of Sweat Cardio & Yoga and Animal Friends of the Valleys for a morning of zen and kittens at Kitten Yoga n Aug. 25 from 8 to 10 a.m. Practice your poses and say hello to AFV’s adoptable kittens with an hour-long yoga session and an extra hour of kitty playtime. You never know, you might meet your newest furry family member.

The cost is $25. All proceeds will go to Animal Friends of the Valleys and straight to working helping thousands of animals at the shelter and through animal programs all across the communities the shelter serves. Space is limited. To secure a spot, visit afvkittenyoga.eventbrite.com.

Caregivers Connection

The Canyon Lake Community Church’s Caregivers Connection offers an opportunity for caregivers to share common problems, needs and experiences. Anyone caring for a loved one for illnesses such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, heart issues or Parkinson’s is welcome to attend. Chronic Illness Support

So Cal Fair

The 105th Southern California Fair runs Oct. 6 through Oct. 14 at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds, 18700 Lake Perris Drive, Perris. The fair features concerts, contest and competitions, entertainment, livestock exhibits, carnival games, vendors and more. For more information, visit socalfair.com.

Wine and Chocolate

Hospice of the Valleys invites the public to its 22nd annual Wine and Chocolate fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 5 to 10 p.m. at Fazeli Cellars Winery at 37320 De Portola Rd. in Temecula. The evening’s theme is Summer and Tuscany and the event will feature a seated dinner, live and silent auctions, Italian inspired appetizers and beer, wine and dessert tastings, Tickets are $95 each; guests will be seated eight to a table. Wines for Canines and Kitties

Join Animal Friends of the Valleys for an upscale evening of wine, entertainment and furry friends at Wilson Creek Winery on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. This event will feature a champagne reception, gourmet dinner, a doggy fashion show, live and silent auctions and live entertainment.

Paws on the Promenade

Animal Friends of the Valleys will host Paws on the Promenade Dog Walk Spooktacular at the Promenade Temecula on Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. This event will feature a dog costume contest, pet parade, local vendors, treat bags for all participants and raffle prizes. To sign up, visit pawsonthepromenade.org.

Needlework Group

Clear the Shelters

Animal Friends of the Valleys is one of 900 shelters Nationwide to participate in NBC’s annual Clear the Shelters event on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this push to get every animal at AFV adopted, the shelter will be offering adoptions for a reduced rate while also inviting pet-related vendors to provide their services and pamper the animals heading out to their new homes. Bereavement Support

Grief Share typically meets in the chapel at Canyon Lake Community Church on Mondays at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Classes start up again in August. For more information, contact Pastor Pete at 951-244-1877, ext. 204.

MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) meets on the first and third Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at Canyon Lake Community Church. MOPS seeks to support mothers during the early years of their children’s lives. By connecting with other moms and mentor moms, craft projects and guest speakers, women are encouraged in their physical, emotional and spiritual journeys. Childcare is provided.

The moms fellowship over hot coffee and warm breakfast, then enjoy a speaker or craft. Those desiring “coffee talk” are invited to contact Karla Holenbeck at 951-317-6803.

CLAWS Bunco

Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) group bunco on the second Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club. Genealogy Research

The Lake Elsinore Genealogical Society Business and Program meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday, except July and August, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Mission Trail Community Library, 34303 Mission Trail, Wildomar. Motorcycle Show

Eagle Ridge Riders will present its Veterans Day Weekend Bike Show on Nov. 11 at Eagle Ridge Church, 25891 Holland Rd. Menifee. All bikes and riders are welcome. Seven Best of Show awards, vendors, music by Band of Brothers, jump houses and opportunity drawings.

Breast Cancer Resources

Bosom Buddies is a breast cancer support group in Canyon Lake led by Janelle Basham and Kimberly Slingerland. The pair mentor, educate and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their journey. For more information, visit clbosombuddies.com.

Michelle’s Place, 27645 Jefferson Ave., Ste. 117, Temecula, is a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area. The center’s mission is to provide emotional and educational support to those touched with breast cancer and facilitate breast health care services. Expressive Art Class

Michelle’s Place, a breast cancer resource center serving Canyon Lake and surrounding area, hosts a free Expressive Art Class every other Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The class uses art as a form of therapy and self-exploration. Sessions help to practice creativity while opening the door to calming strategies and awareness techniques. Participants gain a better insight of themselves through sharing feelings and exploring a host of topics with group dialog and discussion. It’s part art, part relaxing, part “therapy,” part discussion and a positive diversion for anyone. No reservations, fees or art experience required. For dates and times, visit michellesplace.org.

Sewing, Quilting Group

Residents are invited to the senior center for sewing and quilting on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a project and sewing machine, or just visit and check it out. For more information, contact Terri Ireland at 951-246-2571.

Women’s Circles

Women’s Circles are small groups of women who meet once a month in each other’s homes or in Building C at Canyon Lake Community Church. They pray and support missionaries and pray for and encourage one another. Being a member of a Women’s Circle provides an opportunity for small group fellowship. Faith Circle meets the third Monday at 7 p.m.; Julia Circle meets the second Monday at 10:30 a.m.; Priscilla Circle meets the first Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.; Sonshine Circle meets the third Monday at 9:30 a.m.; Sunset Circle meets the second Sunday at 5:30 p.m.; Love Circle meets the second Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. For more information about the Women’s Circles, contact Circle Coordinator Phyllis Duncan at 951-674-4436.

Coffee with Nancy

Residents are invited to meet with Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District Division 1 Director Nancy Horton, a Canyon Lake resident, on the last Tuesday of every month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sports Stop. Nancy is available to talk about changing guidelines for water conservation, answer questions about conservation rebates and the district’s water rates, etc. Residents are invited to bring their water bill for clarification of costs. Coffee is complimentary.

Farmers Market

The Canyon Lake Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the upper section of the Towne Center parking lot.

Steering Wheel Covers

The Lioness Club offers custom-made steering wheel covers made of many different materials and patterns, which keep steering wheels from becoming too hot to handle. They also work well during cold weather. The price is $8 for one; $15 for two. The profits from this project go toward the club’s ongoing philanthropic projects.
