CLCT brings fresh approach to classic comic strip

Canyon Lake Community Theatre (CLCT) presented the adventures of the Peanuts gang in its all kids production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” last weekend at the lodge.

The production is a fresh approach to the all-time 1967 classic, based on the comic strip by Charles Schultz. The cast performed three shows.

Drama teacher Leslie Vecchione returned this year to direct the children. She was assisted by Arlette Frederick, Heather Gotoski and Stephanie Vecchione.

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” cast is as follows:

Charlie Brown: Austin Back and Ryan Stetson; Lucy: Emily Garvito and Taylor Pigeon; Linus: Alex Gulati and Matt Thomas; Sally: Abigail Vecchione and Ella Gotoski; Schroeder: Dylan Siler; Snoopy: Alyssa Frederick and Emilia Pepe; Peppermint Patty: Frankie Montenegro; Marcie: Helena Devere; Patty Ann: Sierra Rupe; Freida: Zoey Carroll; Pig Pen: Luke Thomas; Violet: Emma Dore; Peggy Jean: Aaliyah Lopez; Shermie: Tanner Gray; Franklin: James Mertens; and Ensemble: Ashlyn Devere, Massimo Pepe, Dylan Stewart and Tavin Vecchione.

CLCT has been offering all kids summer productions for 18 years with the help of adult and youth volunteers. CLCT gives children the opportunity to participate in theatre arts which are currently limited in public schools.

CLCT’s annual shows afford students the opportunity to learn the backstage and directorial aspects of putting on a show.
