Bassmasters announce tournament winners

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club held its monthly fishing tournament on July 14 from 6 p.m. to midnight. Thirteen teams participated.

The team of Kirk Beardsley and Steve Baker came in first place with five fish weighing 16.67 pounds. Kevin Hugo and Jack Cave took second place with five fish weighing 15.39 pounds. The team of Travis Smith and Jack Smith placed third with five fish weighing 14 pounds.

All fish were released back into the lake.

The Bassmasters Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the country club.

Tournaments are typically held on the first Saturday of each month. Residents who like to fish and want to improve their skills in a low stress, friendly competitive environment are invited to join.
